International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) has been celebrated annually since its inception in 2000 by the US Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. IEW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Murray State University invites faculty, staff, and students to participate each year by attending a session, performance, forum, event, or other scholarly or creative opportunity that celebrates international education.

10:00a CST Information Session - CCSA London Maymester 2026 - Anatomy of a System: Health and Policy in the UK & US with Dr. Elizabeth Gordon (via )

London’s medical history offers a powerful lens for understanding how health care has evolved, from early surgical practices at the Old Operating Theatre to the development of the NHS. Through visits to sites like the Hunterian Museum, the Roman Baths, and Dover Castle, students will examine how cultural beliefs, political decisions, and social power have shaped health care in both the UK and the U.S. Designed for students interested in medicine, public health, health policy, or history, this course connects historical context with contemporary challenges to offer a deeper understanding of how health systems respond to changing needs. 1:30p CST Information Session - CCSA England & Scotland Summer 2026 - Cities of Influence: Politics, Economics, and Culture in London & Edinburgh with Dr. Guilherme Silva (via )

Examine global political, economic, and social issues through the lens of two of the United Kingdom’s most influential cities: London and Edinburgh. This course uses these urban centers as case studies to explore how national identity, history, and global roles shape public policy and economic systems. Visits to key sites like Parliament, Canary Wharf, Edinburgh Castle, and major museums offer firsthand insight into how culture and history influence decision-making and national values. Designed for students in political science, international relations, economics, and related fields, the course encourages critical reflection on how perspectives beyond the U.S. inform understanding of today’s global challenges (Undergraduate and Honors credits available).

3:00p CST Information Session - Experience Scotland with Dr. Marcie Hinton (135 Blackburn)

Join us as Dr. Marcie Hinton recounts her time abroad this Fall semester teaching on the Experience Scotland study abroad program. You will learn all about the program and can ask questions about what you can expect to encounter if you choose to study abroad in Scotland.

Learn from the Education Abroad Office and Student Financial Services staff about available scholarships to support your study abroad. We will discuss how your existing aid package may apply to your program, how to make your application as strong as possible, and how to get your questions answered so we can help you get on a plane!

Starting at Franklin, travel with us from building to building to explore and celebrate various cultures. Each building will present culture through food, performance, art, fashion, and other traditions.

Think you might want to study abroad in England for a semester or over the Summer? Then join our with Jordan Hall to learn about ! Classes at Harlaxton occur Monday-Thursday, allowing you a long weekend to travel across the English countryside or journey down to Europe for exploration. Upcoming terms at Harlaxton are filling up fast so come ask those pressing questions before you submit your program application!

Come learn about RhyLee Sprague’s experience studying abroad on the KIIS Japan program and how he funded a portion of his program with the Gilman Scholarship! He is eager to tell you how you can receive scholarships to explore the world! Pell Grant-eligible students can apply for the Gilman scholarship, a national award program from the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Attend this session to learn more about the application process and how to make your application competitive ().

We'll discuss the application process to propose a Murray State University Study Abroad program and we'll even chat about ways to study abroad with some of our most trusted program providers (CCSA, Experience Scotland, Harlaxton College, and KIIS).
