Dates and Deadlines by Program Term

Select the drop down button to view important dates and deadlines for your study abroad program based on the term the program is held. You can find out the "term" for your program by selecting the "Term Information" tab on the ViaTRM brochure for your study abroad program.

Program Application Deadline

September 15th

Students should submit their application for a specific study abroad program by this date. All program applications now include the opportunity to apply for Education Abroad scholarships at the end of the application. Application Withdrawal Deadline

September 15th

The Application Withdrawal Deadline is the final opportunity for a student to withdraw their study abroad application before any money is spent to reserve airline tickets, hotel accommodations, and other program expenses. If a participant knows they will not be able to participate in the program for any reason (financial, academic, personal, etc.), they should withdraw before this deadline in order to avoid incurring any charges to their Murray State account. Anyone withdrawing after the withdrawal deadline will be charged a withdrawal fee (up to the full cost of the program) and will forfeit their $100 application fee.

Post-Acceptance Forms

Varies by form

Once accepted into a study abroad program, students will be asked to complete various post-acceptance forms. These forms will request information about the student, including the student's medical information, passport details, recent photo, insurance documentation, etc. Post-acceptance forms requesting a student's flight information or passport details may be uploaded after the due date should those documents/information not yet be available.

Canvas Orientation Deadline

November 3rd

All students studying abroad (regardless of program provider) must complete the online orientation through the Canvas system. You will receive more details about the online orientation once you are added to the Canvas course upon your acceptance into a study abroad program.

Program Orientation

TBD - Winter program orientation dates are set by the specific program provider. MSU does not have an in-person orientation for Winter programs.

Students on Winter provider programs (CCSA, GLO, and KIIS) will attend the orientation hosted by the program provider. Students should refer to their program provider's website for more information. This orientation could be held in-person or held online.

  • If this information is not available at the time you submit your program application, please provide as much information as is known (whether it is online or in-person, when it will be announced, etc.).

Non-Compliance Fees

Students who fail to submit all required post-acceptance documentation and forms will be assessed non-compliance fees as follows:

  • A non-refundable $250 non-compliance fee will be charged to a student's account the Monday following program orientation for any outstanding or overdue post-acceptance forms (this does not including flight and passport information forms).

AND

  • A non-refundable $250 non-compliance fee will be charged to a student's account 30 days prior to program departure for outstanding or overdue flight and passport information forms.

*Both bullet points listed above satisfy the final pre-approval quiz question in your study abroad program application. Make sure that you list BOTH.*

  • A non-refundable $250 non-compliance fee will be charged to a student's account the Monday following program orientation for any outstanding or overdue post-acceptance forms (this does not including flight and passport information forms).

MSU Program Application Deadline

December 1st

Students wanting to participate in a Murray State University Faculty-Led Program (FLP) for the Summer term (2nd-half Spring semester courses) should apply by December 1st. All program applications now include the opportunity to apply for Education Abroad scholarships at the end of the application. Learn more about scholarship availability and eligibility requirements on the Policies and Procedures page.

Note: due to the popularity of MSU Summer programs, we encourage all students to submit their application as early as possible. It is probable that a program application will be closed before the application deadline and a waitlist instituted if there is enough interest in the program.
