Certification
The application for certification process has changed. Please review the information below.
Kentucky Application Instructions
- Go to the .
- Log in or create an account if you do not already have one.
- On the left hand side of the screen, click the Applications section.
- Select the option to start a new application.
- Check the box for "Adding New KY Certification/Initial Certification (CA-1)".
- If you have completed a rank change eligible program and are also applying to receive the rank change, please also check the box for 鈥淩ank Change (CA-1)鈥 and when prompted select the 鈥淓ducation Program鈥 option from the drop down menu.
- If you are also applying for a 5 Year Substitute Certificate, check that box as well.
- Answer questions as prompted.
- Once the application has been started, you are responsible for completing several
elements.
- Complete the Out of State License element. Even if you do not have an out of state license, you must complete this element.
- For the Degree element, TES will not upload your transcript to the element. Follow the directions provided on the element to order a transcript from the National Clearinghouse. Be sure when ordering the transcript from the clearinghouse to select the appropriate answer when asked about degree completion/when to send the transcript. Once transcripts have been ordered, complete the Degree element of your application by entering the name associated with the transcript and the date it was ordered on the element before selecting the top option of the blue element confirmation box at the bottom of the page. (For any questions or help regarding Murray State University鈥檚 transcripts, please refer to the Registrar's Office.)
- Complete the Character and Fitness element by answering the questions and signing the agreement.
- On the Assessments element of the application, check to confirm any required PRAXIS requirements have been received by the EPSB/KDE. If any of the PRAXIS assessments that you鈥檝e passed have not been received, please email Nicole Kennedy, nkennedy3@murraystate.edu for further assistance.
- Once all of the above has been resolved, email Nicole Kennedy, nkennedy3@murraystate.edu, that your application is ready for review. Please note: We cannot process your application until your degree has been awarded (conferred) if you are in a program that earns a degree.
- Once your application has been processed by TES, you will receive an email that your
payment can be submitted to the EPSB. After the payment has been received, the EPSB
will review your application for final approval.
- Please note, once logged in, you can access help documents if necessary by clicking on the question mark symbol, "?" at the top right of the page, next to your name.
- Go to the .
- Log in or create an account if you do not already have one.
- On the left hand side of the screen, click the Applications section.
- Select the option to start a new application.
- Check the box for "Rank Change (CA-1)". Please be sure that you only need to apply for a rank change. This type of application will not lead to a certification recommendation in addition to the rank change.
- In the drop down menu, select that the rank change is based on an Education Program.
- Answer any remaining questions when prompted.
- You are responsible for completing two elements of the application:

The Kentucky PRAXIS requirements can be found on the . Score Recipients must be both the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (code 7283) and Murray State University (code 1494). Montana does not have reciprocity with any state for teacher licensure. To get a Montana teaching license you will need to go through the application process. You will need to submit an application, transcripts, a fingerprint background check, a copy of your current out of state license, a university recommendation and a licensure fee which verifies you have completed a teacher preparation program which included student teaching and that you qualify for the endorsements you are applying for.
